Lt Col Frederick William Coombes OBE MC
He was commissioned into the Royal Tank Regiment in July 1939. He was promoted Lieutenant in November 1940. He was serving with 5 RTR in Egypt when he was awarded the Military Cross for his part in the attack on Bir Hamat.
He would get his Majority in 1950 after the War. He was made an OBE in the January 1958 Honours List.
He was initiated in November 1972, aged 56. He was installed as Worshipful Master in 1979.
He passed away in 1982.
