Major Frederick George Whitehead served in the 42nd Foot, the Royal Highlanders or the Black Watch, before being appointed Adjutant of the East Kent Militia in 1855. He then served in the Essex Rifles, later the East Essex Militia before being appointed to the Victoria Rifles in 1860. He retired from the Regiment on 9 May 1862. 1971 saw him return as the Lt Col Commanding the Essex Rifles Militia.
He joined the Lodge at the first regular meeting (7 November 1860) following the Consecration.
