Alfred Lewis Thorn was a Master Printer working at 84 Tabernacle Street, Finsbury, and who lived at 82 Hampton Road, Forest Gate.

He was initiated in 1919 at the age of 65.

He married Charlotte, known as ‘Lottie’, and they had a son, Harold Lewis Thorn. Harold became a subaltern with the 1/20th (County of London) Battalion (Blackheath and Woolwich) and was killed in action on 15 June 1917, aged 23 during operations at Monchy-le-Preux.
