Charles Christie Johnson was a Lloyd’s man in his professional life, focusing on marine insurance. He was the son of G F Johnson of Tooting Bec, London.

He went to Malvern College, being made a school prefect. He was a fine sportsman playing in the Football XI, the Cricket 2nd XI and winning a Ledbury Cap. He was also a Lieutenant in the Corps.

He volunteered with the Queen Victoria’s Rifles, and was initiated into the Lodge along with his brother Bennett William Johnson on 26 January 1916.. He was one of the Founders of the Old Malvernian Lodge No 4363.
