Wilfred Picton-Turbervill was initiated in 1963, aged 43. He progressed through the offices being installed as Worshipful Master in 1971. He became the first Chaplain of the Lodge in 1973 and remained in post until 1986. He was awarded London Grand Rank in 1982.

A keen cricketer, he was a member of the Nomads, one one occasion scoring a century against the Houses of Lords & Commons team at the Hurlingham. He was also a keen choral singer and member of the Bach Choir where he met his wife Shirley.

He was a solicitor with Trower, Still & Keeling in the City.
